JANUARY 2017 TAROT READING: THE WORLD
The very first card we ever pulled for The Kitten Life monthly astrology readings was the World card, which revealed itself exactly 365 days ago.
Today, on January 1st 2017, we again see the World card which aptly signifies events coming full circle, being fulfilled, accomplishment.
In this crazy game called life we've found ourselves in, the only constant is that time continues to pull us along no matter how we feel about it. Can you start your year off by embodying feelings of self-actualization? What does it feel like to want for nothing, to know that you are already complete?
The theme for this month, therefore, is centred on gratitude. It's crucial to the achievement of self actualization that we feel grateful that we have everything we need to live each moment with compassion, joy and happiness. Every moment we have the choice to assert our will and the self-actualized state is the embodiment of this.
If we all know that our ultimate goal is to be happy, in whatever form or feeling that takes for us, why do we place a time limit and conditions on achieving that state?
The World offers us this chance to see the bigger picture and January is a month of new beginnings and the time when we set our intentions for the year ahead.
Of course, many people, myself included, know that every day of the year, every day of our lives, we should be thinking about the direction we're moving in, shifting to account for new circumstances or information and striving constantly to do better, however the message of the World card for us form-bound children of the Earth is to use this month as an opportunity to go deeper into the feeling of wholeness and unity, and to try, just try, to go through your days grounded into that energy.
Savour each moment this month and know that you are already fulfilled.
There's an excellent passage in Kurt Vonnegut's book Cat's Cradle where, on his deathbed, a character is read the last rites of his religion.
“God made mud.
God got lonesome.
So God said to some of the mud, "Sit up!"
"See all I've made," said God, "the hills, the sea, the
sky, the stars."
And I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look
around.
Lucky me, lucky mud.
I, mud, sat up and saw what a nice job God had done.
Nice going, God.
Nobody but you could have done it, God! I certainly
couldn't have.
I feel very unimportant compared to You.
The only way I can feel the least bit important is to
think of all the mud that didn't even get to sit up and
look around.
I got so much, and most mud got so little.
Thank you for the honor!"
If you find it difficult to break out of negative mental mind loops, or perhaps you feel debilitated by a difficult life situation, the World card points also to rendering a service or becoming involved with a larger community.
If you can't find fulfillment in yourself, perhaps start by helping another find fulfillment on their path.
Just as it's impossible to have both a negative and a positive thought simultaneously, when you become of service to a greater cause, it's difficult to continue feeling negative, even if just for the moment. Look for opportunities to volunteer at your local soup kitchen, or animal shelter, or offer to run errands for an elderly family member or neighbour.
Whatever you do this month, we hope that you find a moment of rest, ease, and complete surrender to the awesomeness of the world and just how amazing it is that we're all here together.
